Mitsu Salmon creates original performance and visual works, which fuse multiple disciplines.
Her work starts with personal or familial stories and branches out to speak to contemporary
issues such as diaspora, labor, and the environment. Salmon received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2014. In 2005 she graduated from NYU where she majored in Experimental Theater. She has presented work at places such as the Chicago Cultural Center, Highways, Performance Space 122, and internationally at Hebbel Am Uffer in Berlin, and Urbanguild in
Kyoto, Japan. She has participated in artist residencies at Taipei Artist Village, Incheon Art
Platform, High Concept Lab, Links Hall and Oxbow. She was awarded best collaborative multi-
disciplinary performance by Newcity in 2015, an Individual Artist Grant from the City of Chicago, Chicago Dancemakers Lab Artist in 2019, and a touring grant through Midwest Nexus in 2018.
